Woman On List For Life-Saving Surgery Refused Service Over Vaccination Status

A California woman suffering from extreme kidney problems was denied surgery, despite having a donor, after it was discovered she never received the Covid vaccination.

San Diego, CA: A woman desperately needing a life-saving surgery has been refused service and was taken off the waiting list after medical staff discovered the patient never received her covid vaccination.

The woman, Linda Garinger, 68, a California resident has been in need of a kidney transplant for two years and has been on the waiting list since then. On average, it takes approximately three to five years to get the transplant surgery, even if there is a living donor willing to participate. Garinger's daughter is the donor.

However, once medical staff discovered Garinger was never vaccinated, she was removed from the list.

Her Battle Continues

Garinger still suffers and her overall outlook and attitude is not good, and rightfully so.

"The dialysis is very stressful on me. My vision is going. My hair is falling out. I've got skin cancer. They said it's from the dialysis not filtering out all the bad stuff. My biggest fear is I'll have a heart attack during dialysis. I'm just going downhill right now," Garinger said in an interview.

Garinger has already had a heart attack and another cardiac episode connected with her three-times-a-week treatment. She fears the next could be her last.

Garinger chose not to get vaccinated because she feared the consequences of an untested vaccine. At the time, she already struggled with medical issues. Adding to that, her neighbor died shortly after receiving their vaccine shot. Pictured below is Garinger in a hospital after suffering a heart attack in 2022. (Courtesy of her Facebook page).

Back to Square One

Since being removed from the list, Garinger is forced to start the process over. She must now fill out a new application, go through the initial preliminary procedures and then start the waiting process. Despite being grateful for finding a new hospital that will perform the surgery, she is concerned she will not survive the time it'll take to be next.

A study showed that more than half of transplant centers did not require a Covid vaccination as a prerequisite to surgery.

Many critics feel this discrepancy is rooted in politics, like Jeffrey Childress, a Florida commercial attorney. In an interview, Childress said, “This was an ugly manifestation of the COVID management regime that popped up. All the cases get a lot of attention because people are horrified. But the transplant people will say they have limited resources, only get so many organs each year, and we have to give them to people with the best survival chances. They’ll hide behind that forever.”
