PNC Bank Unexpectedly Closes Accounts Tied To Trump Jr. - Denies Bias

PNC Bank unexpectedly closed an account affiliated with Donald Trump Jr., but did not provide specific reasons for the closure, drawing major criticism. Many fear a political agenda at play, but PNC denied it and quickly reversed the decision.

Nationwide: PNC Bank, one of our country's most recognized banks, recently decided to close an account of an organization belonging to Donald Trump, Jr., without cause and without notice.

The account was connected to Trump Jr.'s conservative news organization, MxM.

Last year, Trump Jr. and Taylor Budowich, a former Trump spokesman, launched MxM, a conservative news app. The app was designed to collect and distribute news content for readers. It was created to compete with similar applications like Apple News, Google News and similar news apps but without any censorship of any conservative news sources.

As many news organizations have liberal political leanings, MxM was developed to further give conservatives a platform to work from.

In a statement provided to Fox News Digital, Trump Jr. said, "Woke corporations are using their terms and conditions like a guillotine over the head of every entrepreneur." He continued, "However, as this shows, it's not just the media that's become plagued by the woke agenda. It's banks, it's the entire corporate America."

Bank Account Closure

It was reported that Budowich only learned about their account being closed after he visited a local branch to make a transaction. It was soon after that he realized what had transpired.

"The teller said he was unable to complete the transfers as the account had been closed and the balance had zeroed out," Budowich told Fox News Digital. He continued, "After being told to call a generic helpline, I was informed by PNC representatives that per the terms and conditions, PNC reserves the right to re-evaluate their business relationships at any time and terminate accounts without cause."

An exasperated Trump Jr. voiced his frustration and disappointment with the way his organization was treated. Although they were able to recover from the closed account and get back to business, he questioned PNC Bank's motives and its impact on other conservative organizations.

"But what about every other start-up, or small business who wants to pursue a values-based company," he asked. He went on to question the legality of such actions.

PNC Bank Responds

According to PNC Bank, they do not consider political affiliations or ideology when determining whether to do business with an establishment or to close an already existing account.

According to a statement provided by PNC Bank to Fox News Digital, they said, "While PNC does not comment on the closure of specific accounts, which may occur for a variety of reasons, our account closure decisions are never driven by politics. As a national bank, we recognize and respect that our customers and our employees hold a wide range of political beliefs."

There appears to be a clear skepticism from the conservative community across the nation. As the story broke in recent days, numerous conservative personalities took to social media to voice their opinions.

Speaker Kevin McCarthy posted on Twitter: "This is outrageous!"

Kari Lake wrote on Twitter: "You think they'll stop here? None of us are safe. They won't stop until they have destroyed every single one of us."

PNC Bank Reverses Decision

Following the breaking of the story, PNC Bank coincidentally (or not coincidentally, you decide) "looked into" the matter and has ultimately decided to reopen the account, citing a "good faith error."

PNC Bank has reiterated their stance that the decision, and similar decisions, are not based on political ideology.

PNC Bank took to Twitter and wrote: "We've looked closely into the circumstances surrounding the closure of the ROCDIGITAL, LLC [MxM] account and determined it was mistakenly closed due to a good faith error."
