Will Best Buy Get the Bud Light Treatment? Conservatives Strike Back

The retail electronics company faces conservative ire by flagrant anti-white discrimination in professional development program.

Big business doesn’t seem to learn from the mistakes of others. The latest company to face consumer blowback is electronics retailer Best Buy, which is being slammed for a professional development program solely for employees who “identify as black, Latino, Hispanic, Asian or Pacific Islander.”

“The program is not open to white applicants,” investigative journalist James O’Keefe of the O’Keefe Media Group wrote.

A whistleblower shared copies of an internal memo circulated by Best Buy referring to “management leadership academy programs,” O’Keefe said. The whistleblower shared screenshots of the company memorandum.

In a post on social media platform X, O’Keefe Media Group wrote:

“DISCRIMINATION: A Citizen Journalist has revealed that Best Buy is partnering with McKinsey & Company on a Management Training Program.

The program is not open to white applicants. ‘Candidates must meet the [racial] requirements below.’

Any comment @BestBuy?”

O’Keefe Media Group posted a screenshot of the purported memo. It specifically excluded white males and white females.

The program, called “Leadership Essentials Just for Individual Contributors,” is a three-month program designed to “enhance their [participants'] leadership through a mini-MBA style curriculum.”

Most of the requirements to enter the program are standard, such as working in an exempt (salaried) role, having been employed by Best Buy for more than one year in their current position, and being able to fulfill a specified commitment to the program.

The one criterion that has angered critics is one where applicants must “identify as Black, Latino, Hispanic, Asian or Pacific Islander.”

See that? “Identify as” one of those protected classes. That leads to the question…if men can “identify” as women and women can “identify” as males, can a white male or female “identify” as black, Latino, Hispanic, Asian or Pacific Islander?”

In response to Best Buy’s memo, one X user wrote, “It’s time to Bud Light Best Buy.” That refers to the boycott against the former number one beer brand in the country, which began after the brand hired Dylan Mulvaney, a cross-dressing male who pretends to be a teenage female, as a spokesperson during March Madness. Bud Light has suffered devastating losses as a result of the boycott.

“Hey @BestBuy, I’m apparently not in your demographic. I’m canceling my credit card and won’t be shopping with you again,” one woman said in response.

Yet another X user wrote, “Is @BestBuy a racist company? By the looks of their management training program, the answer is an overwhelming YES. Time to give them the Bud Light treatment.”

McKinsey & Company, a business consulting firm that leans heavily to the left, in 2021 reached a $600 million settlement with 49 states over its role in the opioid crisis. McKinsey offered sales advice to drugmakers, including Purdue Pharma, the manufacturer of OxyContin.

The consultant to blue chip corporations and governments worldwide was accused of helping “turbocharge” opioid sales, leading to over 450,000 deaths over a twenty-year period.

According to Georgia Vahoua, Best Buy’s Senior Manager of Strategic Initiatives, Inclusion and Diversity:

“Our main focus through the collaboration of the cohorts is to create a space where everyone feels valued and included,” she said on the company’s website. “In addition to the core leadership and management skills that are learned, each cohort also provides a strong networking opportunity for its members that lasts long after the program ends.”

“Everyone feels valued and included.” Apparently, except for white males and females.

In response, America First Legal told employees who felt discriminated against by Best Buy to contact that organization.

“If you are a current Best Buy employee who does not qualify for this program because of your race, we want to hear from you today,” they said.
