CMT Goes Full Fox News, Ignores Core Audience, Pulls Jason Aldean Video After Woke Mob Complains

Country Music Television, owned by Paramount Networks, pulled the "controversial" video after some complained it was "pro-lynching."

In May, country music superstar Jason Aldean released a song, "Try That in a Small Town." However, it wasn't until the video was released last week that the woke activists became inflamed, complaining that the song "glamorizes violence" and is "pro-lynching."

The last description comes from the fact that the video was recorded in part in front of a Tennessee courthouse where a black man was reportedly lynched nearly 100 years ago.

Those who complained neglect the fact that other artists, such as Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus, have used the same building as a backdrop. The latter two are, of course, favored by the far left. Aldean, meanwhile, has been vocal in expressing his conservative point of view.

Another complaint from the left is that the video portrays a "pro-violence" narrative.

Oh, the irony.

In 2020, the left had no problem with the violent riots across the United States after the George Floyd death. Aldean's video depicts many of those violent riots.

In defense of the song and accompanying video, Aldean said the song paid homage to small-town America, where "we all have each other's backs, and we look out for each other." He added, "It feels like somewhere along the way, that sense of community and respect has gotten lost. Deep down, we are all ready to get back to that."

The song takes the far left to task, slamming not only the left-wing-inspired riots but also pro-criminal, anti-victim policies, gun control, and all manner of radical left ideology.

Many who complained said Aldean glorified gun violence; however, they apparently forgot that Aldean was on-stage when the mass shooting at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas broke out in 2017.

One person who spoke out against CMT's decision was legal expert Jonathan Turley, who compared CMT's decision to scrap the video to Bud Light's decision to use a so-called "trans-influencer" to push its beer brand.

"Putting aside CMT's effort to become the Bud Light [sic] of networks, the decision to yield to the intense cancel campaign is an abandonment of principles of artistic freedom and free speech," Turley said.

Ironically, Paramount seems to have no issue with airing rap videos on MTV and VH1, which it also owns. Many of those rap videos glorify drugs, violence, and the use of firearms.

The hypocrisy is mind-blowing.

Aldean's video is still available on Rumble, a conservative alternative to the woke, far-left YouTube.
