Airbnb Cancels Account Belonging to Parents of Banned Influencer, Lauren Southern, Then Reverses Decision

Lauren Southern, a conservative Canadian political activist and social media influencer has recently experienced a troubling issue involving another woke business- Airbnb.

Airbnb, one of the major short-term residential rental platforms, has gone after Southern’s parents and refused to allow them to book rentals using its platform.

It was reported that in an email from Airbnb, they told the parents, “We’ve removed you from the Airbnb platform because your account is closely associated with a person who isn’t allowed to use Airbnb,” referencing Lauren Southern.

Numerous woke organizations have taken a stance against conservative personalities, citing a difference in political opinion. But this is an unusual, and landmark-type case where a woke corporation is going after family members of opposing political personalities.

But Southern wasn’t going quietly. She immediately took to Twitter to post about the troubling experience, which has since gone viral.

In her Twitter post, she wrote, “My parents just got banned from Airbnb for being related to me. They have never booked anything for me. They do not represent me in any way. They aren’t publicly political in any way. How is this sane in any way @Airbnb.”

Southern then posted the email response from Airbnb to her parents. In the response, it stated, “We’ve removed you from the Airbnb platform because your account is closely associated with a person who isn’t allowed to use Airbnb.”

Southern Took To Twitter

Southern slammed Airbnb – which has been incredibly effective. Airbnb has since apologized for the “mistake” and has reinstated her parent’s access to their account on its platform.

Southern believes they only apologized merely to save face from the bad PR they were getting since Southern took to Twitter.

But Southern isn’t done yet.

She seems to have a renewed sense of purpose given the troubling nature of the account suspension. The suspension was for merely being related to another person who is banned.

In a Fox News interview with Tucker Carlson, Southern said, “I think progressives have realized, with the laws we have in place defending civil liberties, they can’t quite bring a social credit system in yet. So, they found a way to circumvent it through the corporate class.”

She continued, “They can just impose a social credit system on us using Big Tech.”

All signs point to Airbnb going out of their way to ban her parents. According to Southern, Airbnb responded that they approved the appeal despite her parents never actually filing an appeal to the banning.

Southern said in the Fox News interview, “They’re trying to cover up something nefarious here. And the only reason they aren’t continuing to do this to me is because I have a platform, and they’re testing the waters. If they got away with it this time, they would have kept going – but they miscalculated how woke their market is.”

A Troubling New Trend?

When an organization shuns someone over their political differences, that is troubling. But when that same organization goes after family members - they are crossing an entirely different line.

This debacle is why we are going through great lengths to help people avoid such incidents. Most people simply want peace in their daily lives – and we aim to help provide it.

Wow, companies seem to forget that the very people they’re banning are the ones keeping their business alive.
